The wood pattern had been used until the edges were round. They needed a part, not a lecture about tooling. We scanned it on the bench next to the printer.
CAD work here was cleanup: fill the gouges, square a face that had to be square, leave the rest. We sliced it in PETG, thick enough to hold a clamp, and had it off the bed in the morning.
It is not a production mold. It is a copy that lets the job continue. When they want metal, we already have the model.
